Dear Friends of High Mountain Sports,

Current temperature is 28 degrees with light snow. There has been a lot of storms this week but the slopes are in good shape considering. Tuesday night we ran Nastar and the snow was pretty nice. Last night we got shut out due to lighting. It sounds like snowmaking should resume tonight. I do believe again we have the best conditions around.

I just finished Bode Miller's book Go Fast, Be Good, Have Fun. I recommend it if you really want to understand the best ski racer the US has produced so far. Bode is on a roll just surpassing Phil Mahre for overall World Cup wins. I also recommend Phil's book No Hill to Fast if you can still find it.

I recently corresponded with Tom Wallish's parents to figure out what the hot freeskier is up to. Lots of magazine coverage including the cover of Japan Freeskiing. Feb - Colorado mostly Copper and Vail. March - Spain, Switzerland, and Sweden. April - Colorado Spring Filming. On last Fridays US Open Slopestyle Tom threw back to back switch 9's reverse directions over succesive jumps and added as a side feature a Lincoln Loop with a Mule Grab. Not bad for a Wisp Product. The next time snow conditions are really good we are going to plan an outing to Whitegrass XC Ski Area in Canaan Valley. The food and atmosphere are great and the skiing is sweet. I will put out a Buzz with a 24 hour warning to meet to ski. It will be on a weekday. You can rent skis from us or Whitegrass has a full ski selection including skate skis.
